Credit Reporting

After approximately 60 days the accounts will be reported to the Equifax system. The information can remain on a person's credit file for up to seven years. The reason for the 60 day delay is that the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act gives a consumer a 30 day period to contest the information listed as a collection account. The additional 30 days covers the time differential caused by the various times an account is placed for collection during the month and the fact that our information is sent to Equifax one time per month.
