How do I obtain a copy of my credit report?
The best way is to sign on to www.equifax.com and purchase a copy of your credit report and your score. It will cost somewhere around $17.00 or maybe a little more.
Once you have it your will be able to play a sort of "what if" with your score to see what effect certain actions on your part would have with the score.
On the other hand, it depends upon what you want the report for. If you have been turned down for credit you would want to determine what credit reporting source your lender used.
The three are Equifax, Trans Union and Experian. Each may have slightly different information from each other. All three are accessible by the internet.
If you have been turned down for credit, you can obtain a free credit report from the company that provided the report to the lender by calling the credit reporting company. You can also obtain each company's telephone numbers on the internet.
And you can obtain an absolutely free copy of your file one time per year by calling 1-877-322-8244. This report should have all of your information from all three companies however you will not receive a copy of your score.
